Honey Boo Boo is taking over! The media is booming about this new television show on TLC. This little spunky gal, Alana Thompson, lives in rural Georgia with her family including mother; Mama, father, Sugar Bear; three sisters, Chubbs, Pumpkin and Chickadee; and her new baby pig, Glitzy, who may I add is being raised as a girl even though it’s a boy. A little odd? I’d say so.
When Alana first got her pig, Glitzy, she said, “I hope mama don’t eat Glitzy. She eats everything else.” They keep their new addition in a toddler’s playpen.
This show is definitely one to make you… speechless? Alana is a hyper-active six year old who also competes in beauty pageants. This family holds nothing back, and they are proud to be cheese ball-munching, pig-raising, gaseous rednecks.
Now there’s no denying that this loud, obnoxious family is downright country right from the heart of Georgia. They live right next to a railroad track, participate in the “Redneck Games” (a competition held in their town that host games such as belly flopping into a big mud puddle) and create redneck slip n’ slides to cool off in the southern summer heat.
This family is very unique. For example, they hold a Christmas celebration in their front yard in July. The family readies themselves to decorate their whole yard with hideous, blow up holiday decorations. They say that they hold this celebration for fundraising, but they do not say what they are raising money for.
This family is a couponing one. Saving money must be their specialty because they coupon to save money for Alana’s pageants and to feed their big family.
When Alana was asked by her pageant coach who Elvis is, she replied, “Elvis is Santa’s little helper and he helps Santa make the toys.” Well, at least that’s what her daddy told her.
Some people even say the show “Honey Boo Boo” is a disgrace; that it’s embarrassing America. I can’t really disagree with that. While the show is very humorous, it makes me realize that some people in our country are really like this. However, I am sure that this new show will continue to make headlines with its wild behavior.
“You better redneckognize!”
