It is the end of our senior year! We have been here for four years, and I can honestly say that I know for myself that I am glad that it’s over, but there is something really serious happening in our senior class. This isn’t the first time this has affected a senior class. What is this thing that has almost ruined many seniors? SENIORITIS!
What is senioritis? It is an illness that affects the minds of thousands of high school seniors each year. It is very serious and potentially fatal to a high school senior’s academics and potentially their opportunity to get into college. I know many people who have been affected by senioritis, I myself being one of the thousands who suffer from it. Senioritis is defined as the sudden, emotional, mental, and physical lack of desire to participate in classes and do school work.
Some people are afraid and ashamed to announce that they have senioritis. I on the other hand, am proud to say that I have senioritis. I will scream it from the rooftops. I have been in high school for four years and now since it is getting to the end, I am getting tired of the same routine. I have been around the same teachers and the same students for four years; honestly, the routine is getting old. I know I am going to go to college and be in school again, but being in high school is so much more different than being in college. I am tired of being in school every day.
I have talked to some of my friends and other seniors around the school, and they all say that in some way, they or someone they know has been affected by senioritis. During this time of the year, it is common to see seniors not working, slacking off, and goofing around in class. Teachers want to tell us that we need to pay attention and focus. If we do not focus in class, we will not graduate. I agree with what they say, but, come on, give us a break. We have been in school for four years and it is the end of our senior year. They can cut us some slack. A lot of us seniors have other things besides school to worry about. A lot of seniors play sports and work. Add on applying for colleges and chores at home. Then with social lives and boyfriends and girlfriends thrown into the equation, it is unlikely that you are going to have our full attention.
Some people haven’t heard of senioritis, but, hopefully after, this article, you won’t be concerned when someone tells you that you are suffering from it. Well, I’m done now. I’m going to go do something fun with my time since I have been in school for so long.
