Pep Rally takes place

Homecoming week has finally came to a close, but the memories students have taken away from it will last a lifetime. Homecoming week was full of many fun activities, but many people’s favorite was the pep rally that took place last Thursday. This is when students of all classes come together before the busy weekend to get pumped up and have fun as a school.

The whole night began at 7:00 with the drum line. This was followed by the band playing “JHS Loyalty” and the J’ettes and cheerleaders performed the fight song routine to it. Ariel Mansholt and Marissa Thompson were the emcees of the night and did a great job presenting every performance and activity. The cheerleaders then performed their own routine and the J’ettes followed with theirs. They were both fantastic and got a lot of compliments from the crowd. After a great opening, the fun began! Competitions like the football toss, relays, pyramid build, pie eating, tug-of-war, and the sing off took place throughout the night as well. All these fun and friendly competitions were between individuals who signed up for these events at school the weeks prior. They were freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors all against each other which made the crowd go crazy. The seniors won, as they do every year. The J’ettes also had another dance in store for the night, but it was not like their normal routines. They had boys dance with them and called them J’Guys. They had been practicing for weeks in advance. It was so funny to see guys try to do what the J’ettes do all year! After that, the Senior cheerleaders got to do a cheer and dance with the senior football players. It was so funny; the whole crowd was laughing.

The best part of the night was at the very end. The Homecoming court was announced and the students walked out with their parents. The girls were Kaylee Ezard, Ariel Mansholt, Abby Mitchell, Danielle Rondeau, and Zoe Wood. The boys were Steven Albers, Hunter Hartsook, Ben Hill, James White, and Klay Wood. Zoe Wood and Steven Albers were then announced as the 2016 Homecoming Queen and King. The whole night was so much fun and put on a great start to an even better weekend.
