Adam Dzurech: Slovakia to America

Megan Evans, Staff Writer

If you were to ask what an interview with Adam Dzurech includes, the answer would be laughter, a friendly personality, and tons of fun. Adam is a junior here at Jacksonville High School with the Chiee Agency. Adam traveled here from his home in Slovakia. His hometown is about the same size as Jacksonville, and the name is Hlohovec. (Yes, he did have to repeat that a few times). When asked what he liked the most about the Crimson halls of JHS, there was no doubt in his quick reply. The people are definitely his favorite part! “The teachers are so friendly,” he stated with a smile. The size of the airport shook him up a bit, and he had never flown before. Although it was nerve-wracking, the view from the airplane amazed him. He is most excited to hang out with friends and have even more fun during the rest of his stay! Also, there seems to be quite a few differences between his home in Slovakia and here in the U.S. In Adam’s words, “We don’t listen to the music so loud.” In addition to the lower volume tunes, they have to be eighteen before getting their license! Sixteen doesn’t seem so bad now, does it? He also stated that they do not have as much fast food at home, and that they don’t have school dances at his school! Here’s a fun fact about Adam: his favorite color is blue! His favorite sport is soccer, and for those of you who do not know, he played soccer with the JHS boys’ soccer team this year. Welcome to JHS, Adam! May you indulge in all the fast food you want, play your music as loud as it can go, and dance your heart out at Prom! Make it a great year!
