Tim Orisek has been a teacher for ten years all of which have been at Jacksonville High School. His inspiration to become a teacher began when he was in high school working at a baseball camp for younger kids. “I would always enjoy when the campers that I taught would have success from the skills I had taught them earlier. I felt that I made a difference and I wanted to continue that as a teacher.”
He went to a large high school in the Chicago suburbs. While there he participated in baseball and kept to himself and also hanging out with friends outside of school. He graduated from Illinois College in 2005 with a degree in Physical Education and a minor in Biology. He received his masters in Biology from Mississippi State University in 2010.
Mr. Orisek loves to travel and has been to many different places, some of which include the Caribbean Islands, Hawaii, Alaska, and Costa Rica. He also has gone on a trip to Rome, Athens, Warsaw, Sicily, and Turkey with his wife. He also likes to watch movies and coach baseball in his spare time.
Besides being a science teacher, Orisek also is a part of the Science Club and the “caretaker of the Komodo Dragons in the basement of JHS.”
Of all the things that Mr. Orisek does, the one that I appreciate the most is taking notice of his students and having an interesting class.
