Jenny Ostberg is an exchange student from Sweden who is staying in Jacksonville. She has come across new things during her stay here. Some of which are new foods, people, and activities. Jenny has enjoyed some of the differences and new opportunities.
Jenny has noticed some changes between Sweden and Jacksonville. At her school she has a 20 minute break after P.E. She had the same group of people in each of her classes, “it’s fun to meet new people too,” she says. The school system is different and so are the rules. Jenny says about the differences in food that “there is much more fast food! More cookies, brownies, cheeseburgers, French fries…but I like it!” Jenny says about the differences in food. Something memorable always happens in class so I asked Jenny is anything had happened to her yet. She said, “When I stood in front of the whole English class reading out loud my text. Fun and scary!” Jenny has enjoyed being on the swim team and having fun four wheeling. She was introduced to both activities here in Jacksonville. When asked what she would like to remember about her visit, she said, “My new friends, the swim team, the food, and my host family.”
She came to America to experience something new, to be able to speak English better and to see how an American teenage life can be. She has found all these things and more here in Jacksonville. If you see her in the hallway make sure to welcome her here to Jacksonville High School.
