It is school year number twelve or better known as senior year. The last time seniors take the field with fellow classmates. The last chance to reach goals set the summer before freshman year of high school. It is the last chance for Kody Wood, the star wide receiver and corner for JHS, to achieve his dream, a state championship.
“[I am feeling] excitement, realizing that this is my last year of high school football,” said Wood when asked about his thoughts toward the start of the season. “This group has played together since the eighth grade; we are really a close knit team.” Wood hopes for team success in their final season together. He talked about the goals he set for himself this season. “I want to win a state championship; it doesn’t matter what we end up class wise-4A or 5A.” When asked about individual goals he has set for himself, Kody answered, “I would like to be awarded with 1st Team All-State.”
No matter where this season takes the Crimsons, it will definitely not be Wood’s last year playing football. His production has gained the notice and respect of college coaches. “I think a Vanderbilt or a Missouri would be the place I would want to go, but I have to realize that there is a point, based on my talent level at which I can play college football,’’ Wood replied when asked what his dream school would be.
Wood is off to a great start in his senior year hauling in 13 catches for 248 yards and three touchdowns, building on his junior year where he was All-Conference Honorable Mention and All-Area Honorable Mention. Expect a huge senior by Kody Wood as he leads the Crimsons in the 2013-14 season.
