On March 3, the JHS Science Club conducted their annual Saturday Science. Starting a 12 o’clock the students had the opportunity to teach kids (from 1st grade through 5th) about science.
Not only were the members of Science Club able to participate in Saturday Science, but students of JHS who wanted to be a part of Saturday Science were able to join in on the fun. The students had to teach a class three times, with each class lasting roughly 40 minutes. Not every class was the same.
Depending on the ages of the kids, the classes were taught different subjects. Kid ages k-2 were taught bubbleology, arthropods and insects, and science toys, while kids 3rd-5th were taught archeology, chemistry, and force physics.
“I love seeing the high school students’ show their leadership and responsibility skills teaching the kids science,” said science teacher, Heather English, “and it’s fun to see the little kids learn hands on science.”
After teaching and all the kids went home, the students and teachers involved with Saturday Science had a pizza party to celebrate the good work they did!
