In today’s society, all people think about is tomorrow and what is going to happen then? Well ironically enough, there was a place that was created to make people live in the now and think about everything around them called Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland is the largest annual electronic music festival held in the world, taking place in Boom, Belgium, usually on the final weekend in July. The festival was first organized in 2005 and since has become one of the most notable global music festival.
The festival began small and grew over the years until 2010 when tickets sold out days before the event with a record attendance of 120,000 visitors over a two-day period. The next year, the decision was made to expand the festival to three days. The same year the festival was completely sold out just days after the official presale of tickets and had 180,000 visitors. In 2012, Tomorrowland’s line-up consisted of over 400 DJs playing on fifteen stages each day while the visitors exceeded 185,000 people that came from over 75 different countries. There have also been several movies made about Tomorrowland showing the music and of course the thousands of people that flock there every year.
In 2013, the creators of Tomorrowland announced that they would be organizing an American spin-off of Tomorrowland known as TomorrowWorld. This festival would be held in Bouckaert Farm in Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia, located only 30 miles away from Atlanta. The site was specifically chosen due to its resemblance to the Boom location in which Tomorrowland is traditionally held. TomorrowWorld takes place on the last weekend in September and in its first year hosted over 140,000 people. TomorrowWorld also brought more than music, dance, and stunning visuals to the area in 2013. The economic boost that it caused was recorded by officials to have brought $85.1 million into the Georgia economy including $70 million directly to Atlanta. The next year, over 160,000 people attended TomorrowWorld with over 40,000 attendees staying in Dreamville, the official camp grounds of TomorrowWorld.
In 2014, it was also announced that there would be a Tomorrowland festival held in Brazil on the first weekend of May. After reading all of this, who wouldn’t want to go to Tomorrowland and/or TomorrowWorld?
