Jordan Fisher joins the Broadway cast of Dear Evan Hansen

Throughout the hit Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen’s run at the Music Box theater, there have been only four actors to take on the titular role of Evan Hansen full-time. This number is now becoming five as well-known actor Jordan Fisher joins the cast to take on the duty in a limited engagement beginning January 28, 2020. The preceding actor that is currently performing in the role, Andrew Barth Feldman, is slated to have his final curtain call January 26, 2020 along with fellow cast member Alex Boniello who plays Connor Murphy.

Fisher is no stranger to a Broadway stage as he participated in the cast of Hamilton on Broadway back in 2016. Fisher will also be rejoining director Michael Greif who led him as the lead role in Fox Network’s rendition of Rent: Live. In addition to theater, Fisher has released several EP’s and singles and has acted in many television shows and movies such as The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Teen Beach Movie. Not only does he sing and act, Fisher is a triple threat also as he was named the champion of the acclaimed Dancing With the Stars mirrorball in 2017.

While he is starring in the show, Fisher has even more projects coming out; he is set to star in the sequel to the Netflix original movie To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before as a main love interest. When asked about the big year ahead, Fisher claims to be excited and ready for the challenge. Not only is Fisher’s starring role as Evan a great deal due to the fact that he is a person of color, but the understudy for the same role is as well. This will be the first time two persons of color will be playing Evan Hansen at the same time. Broadway fans are eager to witness this historic moment when the curtain rises for Fisher at the start of the new year
