Family is all that matters

Carlie Day, Staff Writer

Star-studded, filled with laughs and tear jerkers, Mother’s Day is the perfect movie to sit down and enjoy with your mother while reminiscing over your childhood. Starring top actresses such as Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson and Jennifer Aniston and actors Timothy Olyphant and Jason Sudeikis; the performance is beyond top notch.

Mother’s Day is the perfect movie due to how well rounded it is in portraying the different family situations of today’s times. Displaying three different storylines, the movie covers situations from celebrating the day with stepmothers to not ever having met one’s mother. In one situation shown, a mother does not approve of her daughters’ life choices, so the daughters live their lives how they want in secrecy. Another situation is where a divorcee is faced with her ex-husband marrying an extremely younger woman. Now the single mother is faced with the new adjustment of her two sons celebrating Mother’s Day with her and their new stepmom. The third situation displayed is a situation where a daughter had never met her mother. Mother’s Day was approaching and having never met her mother (due to being adopted), she wanted to know the reason she was given up; this information was important for her to know since she had a baby girl of her own. After the long journey of each of the families sorting out their problems, it is obvious what the true importance is. The true importance is sorting out your differences, accepting people for who they are, and most importantly, realizing that family stands above all. Receiving a 5.4 out of 10 according to IMDb users and making 8.3 million in box offices, Mother’s Day is one of my personal favorites and I give it a 10 out of 10. So go take the family to enjoy Mother’s Day while it is still in theaters.
