When superheroes clash

Devon Huff, Staff Writer

Batman and Superman are two of the most iconic superheroes in the world. Even if you are not a fan, you could easily recognize both of their logos. Both heroes each have several movies and videogames that tell the backstory and adventures each hero has had. Both of them were also originally created in comic books from the same company, DC Comics. In the new movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, these two heroes fight against each other, creating an epidemic in the DC fan base on who would win.

Critics’ reviews of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice include 7.2/10 on IMDb, 28% on Rotten Tomatoes, and 44% on Metacritic. The movie’s budget was increased to $410 million dollars. This may be due to the actors and crew hired to create the movie. The profit that the movie has made cannot be fully estimated because it is still airing in theatres. Considering how much money was spent creating the movie, it may not be as much as the creators had hoped. This is also the first live action film that collaborates these two superheroes. Even though the main focus is on Batman and Superman, there are also other superheroes and villains in the movie like Wonder Woman.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s main cast stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther. Even though the movie spent a huge sum of money and cast good actors, the movie was not as good as expected. People who have seen the movie, including myself, feel as if it was missing something. The fight between Batman and Superman was subpar at best, and graphics appeared good at times and lazy in others. This is not to say the movie is bad, not at all. But when you hype a movie up for three years, people expect a lot more than what they showed.
