Proximity: The love triangle

Carlie Day, Staff Writer

If you are tired of watching movies where the actors/actresses are perfect, then Proximity is the movie for you. Just a simple Midwest independent film, Proximity isn’t filled with six- packs and models but instead with real life people. At the start of the movie there has been a death, Ella (played by JHS alumni, Jackie Manker) just lost her stepfather Russ. But if you talked to Ella’s mother Naomi (played by Sandy Sparks) you would never know she had just lost her own husband because she was too busy trying to find her daughter one.

Ella is almost forty years old and Naomi is tired of her daughter being single, so Naomi has found the perfect man for Ella (or at least she thinks she has). Naomi believes that Dr. Gordon (played by Bill Finkbiner) is the best match; he’s tall, handsome, and a rich doctor. But sadly for Dr. Gordon, Ella isn’t a bit interested. Instead she has her sights set on Tyler (Cody Heuer), a young jazz musician that is up for good times and new adventure.

Constantly being pulled between the younger guy and the “age appropriate” man her mother approves of, Ella doesn’t know which way to turn. Rated a 9.4 out of 10 by IMDb users, Proximity is the love triangle filled with humor that leaves you wanting more. Oh and how could I forget that the Cardinals baseball player Adam Wainwright is in the mix as well. Directed by Dan Steadman and set in our very own Centralia, IL, go find a copy and enjoy the independent film of Proximity.
