A not-so-friendly face

Bringing in $300 million and ranking No. 1 at the box office this weekend, Spectre, starring Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz and Lea Seydoux, is the movie to see. Earning a seven out of ten, the newest addition to the 007 franchise is action packed and the truth will be revealed. I would personally rate this movie at a ten out of ten. Spectre is able to tie together the last three Bond movies (Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall) in a way you didn’t see coming.

The last mission James Bond (007) went on (in the movie Skyfall) ended with the death of his beloved boss M. When M died she didn’t just leave behind a will but one last request from Bond: revenge on who ordered her death. But with a new organization threatening to take over M16 (The Secret Intelligence Service), Bond has to be cautious on his last mission. Starting in Mexico City, Bond finds himself at the Dia de los Muertos celebration, where he is closely watching an Italian hitman who will lead him one step closer to his target. While in an intense helicopter fight scene, 007 discovers a familiar symbol on a ring the hitman was wearing. After having his high-tech friend Q look into it, Bond discovers the octopus symbol connects to a terrorist group known as Spectre. When Bond finds the organization’s meeting place, he goes to complete M’s last wish. But what Bond doesn’t realize is that he grew up with the leader of Spectre. Coming face to face with Blofeld, the pain of Bond’s past is tied together.

Let us go back; when James Bond was very young, both of his parents died in a climbing accident. When that happened, Blofeld’s (whose real name is Franz Oberhauser) father became Bond’s legal guardian and raised him as his own. Soon Franz became jealous and would call Bond “cuckoo” after the bird that forces out the true offspring and takes their own place in the nest. Driven by jealousy, Franz killed his own father. The truth had always been hidden in a climbing accident where supposedly both Franz and his father died. But, of course, it was all fake; Franz killed his father and faked his own death. That is when Ernst Stavro Blofeld was born. From then on Blofeld has been haunting James’s past, present and future.

So go and enjoy another action-packed movie from the famous 007 franchise, and find out how Bond dealt with a not-so-friendly face from his past.
