All good things must come to an end. For the cast of Jersey Shore, this means the end of family dinners, the end of working at the Shore Store, the end of the duck phone, and the end of a very successful reality show. On October 4, the last season of Jersey Shore will premiere on MTV at 9 PM.
Jersey Shore came onto the scene in December 2009. Known for their partying, fist pumping ways, the cast of eight people were brought together to live in one house located in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. The show quickly became a worldwide phenomenon for teens and young adults. Sayings such as “GTL” became household mottos.
Over the years, Jersey Shore has become MTV’s most successful series of all time. The show was cancelled due to a decline in ratings since season 4 and because some of the cast has been distracted by their spin offs. During the 4th season, the housemates traveled to Italy for the summer. Even though they all have Italian backgrounds, they didn’t adapt well and viewers grew bored. After hitting 8.8 million viewers, an MTV record, the ratings dropped.
While filming season 6, one of the show’s headliners, Snooki, was pregnant in her second and third trimesters. While Snooki says “The partying is long gone,” the other half of the meatball duo, Deena, will still be around to cause some mayhem. The rest of the cast will also be returning. Each of the show’s headliners is reportedly making $2 million for the 6th season.
So you may be wondering what the cast has planned for the future. Mike, “The Situation,” joined the cast of Celebrity Big Brother UK. Snooki will be busy raising her son. As for the rest of the housemates, I think they’d better start looking for a job.
Although Vinny seemed to have his priorities right when he tweeted, “Alright, so I guess I’ll run for president now #Vinny2012.” Let’s just hope he wouldn’t run the country like he ran the household.
Jersey Shore has already led to two spin offs, and I’m sure some other housemates could hold a steady series.
